Robin Neighbour, the Northants area manager from Young Enterprise recently visited Gretton to teach pupils all about business, enterprise and economics through a variety of fun and engaging activities.

Robin introduced himself to the children by telling them all about his life and the different jobs he’d had throughout his career. Pupils then learnt all about inporting and exporting food and goods by looking at a pizza to see which countries the different topping came from. They were then amazed so see how far these items had travelled.

Pupils were then split into groups which represented different countries with a variety of wealths and supplies and played a games to shee how the countries trade with one another in real life.

The pupils also had a go at designing their own product  for a fantasy country. They were given countries such as Sea Shore Island, Leaf Land and Child Island and created a product which they thought would best suit their customers needs.

Year 6 pupils Amy and Izzy said: ‘ We have learnt so much today. We were really surprised at how hard a county had to work in order to make money from their supplies. The industry is very competitive. ‘
