Maple class recently took part in a Speed Safety workshop.
The workshop started with a presentation from Suzanne from Corby Borough Council who went through a range of activities such as anagrams and photos to highlight the impact of speeding and safety.
The pupils then went outside with PCSOs from the Neighbourhood Policing Team who taught them how to use the speed gun to measure the speed of a car. They learnt to line the red dot up with the number plate before reading the speed of the car. The pupils then looked if it was over or under the limit before holding up either a smiley face or a slow down sign.
To end the session the pupils took turns running on the field to meaure how fast they could run to give them a better understand of speeds.
One pupil said ‘It was lots of fun and I got to have a go with the speed gun. I really enjoyed it.’
