Gretton Life - Autumn Term 2025
Autumn Term is well underway at Gretton Primary School, and what a fantastic start to the year it’s been! We’ve had the pleasure of welcoming a brand-new Reception class, and a lovely sense of harmony has settled across the school. This term, our assemblies have centred around the theme of community, encouraging children to reflect on how they can positively contribute to the various communities they belong to. We often talk about being part of the wider Gretton community, and we’d love to hear any ideas on how the school can play a more active role in supporting our village. Please do get in touch if you have suggestions!
On Wednesday 24th September, we hosted our annual Macmillan Coffee Morning—though this year it took place in the afternoon! Thanks to the incredible generosity of our families and friends, we raised over £600 for this wonderful cause. It was heartwarming to see so many parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends join us, and we were truly amazed by the number of cake donations we received.
Our sports teams have hit the ground running this year. At the recent ESFA Small Schools Open Football Tournament held at Kingswood Secondary School, our Year 5 and 6 team took first place! This fantastic achievement means they’ve qualified for the county finals in January. We’re incredibly proud of their performance and the excellent sportsmanship they showed throughout the event.
Even though the school year has only just begun, we’re already looking ahead. The application window is now open for children starting Reception in September 2026. If you’re interested in seeing what our school has to offer, please visit our website for details of our open morning tours—and feel free to spread the word about our wonderful school within the wider community.
As always, we’re keen to welcome volunteers into school to help with reading or times tables practice. If you have some spare time during the week and would like to get involved, please contact the school office on 01536 770366 or email office@grettonprimary.org to find out more.
