Kerry Young
SENDCO

Kerry Young completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Primary Education, specialising in English, with QTS at the University of Northampton. She began her teaching journey at Gretton Primary 11 years ago, and has enjoyed working there ever since. At the very beginning of her career in education, Kerry quickly developed a passion for Special Educational Needs and wanted to know as much about this complex area as possible. This inspired Kerry to take her Master’s Degree in Special Educational Needs and Inclusion, specialising in Autism, also at the University of Northampton. Soon after that, Kerry became the school’s SENDCo, ensuring SEND was at the heart of the curriculum, all children had equal opportunities and their individual needs were met.

Alongside the SENDCo role, Kerry is a full-time class teacher and has taught from Year 2 up to Year 6. Kerry is also the Pupil Premium Lead for Gretton Primary.  Kerry has successfully completed her NPQSL (National Qualification for Senior Leaders) and continues to develop professionally through the wide range of courses on offer through the Brooke Weston Trust.
